Persistent change-seekers joined our latest Sense Virtual Meet-Up to talk about how we can collectively work towards a better now and future!

By Rakshita Arvind

The Sense Virtual Meet-Ups are all about having open conversations to reflect on our varied yet collective experiences. We hope to create a space where you can connect with those from around the world to exchange stories, ideas and mind-expanding perspectives.

It is always so positively energising to be able to meet and get to know all those who join in. One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed since we first began these meet-ups in early lock-down, is the way we’re inching closer and closer towards optimism with a little caution. There is greater sense of positivity towards adapting to uncertain situations to take control of how we design our collective futures.

Here are some of the highlights from our conversations…

  • Accepting uncertainty and change: I think the biggest takeout for us, was the common thread of looking to adapt and create positive change in times of uncertainty… whether that be through our side-hustles, within our careers, new projects or in our own daily lives. Change is really important for us to keep progressing and growing!
  •  Side-hustles: This is a time for us to shift focus onto things that we’re all passionate about making a positive impact within; whether it be Suzanne making opportunities more accessible to those above 50, to Lewis working with CLL support or Karen and Alex working on initiatives to raise awareness on conscious consumption.
  • How might future historians look back at us during this period of time? It is so interesting to think about how people of the future might define us. We’re in the thick of things currently, and it would be great to be able to zoom out.
  • But also to think about all the things we might miss in the future! The Andromeda & Milky Way Galaxies colliding sounds like something that would be amazing to witness: here’s a visualisation of what that might look like from Earth [skip to 3:00 min].
We run our Virtual Meet-Up’s every month. Look out for the next one to connect with like-minded people from worlds unlike your own. And let amazing things happen when our worlds collide!
